Dear Craig;

Three weeks down… I am still counting. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter but it isn’t bright enough yet. Your parents are coming this weekend to stay and I know how much help they will be. It will be great to spend so much time with them. You more than I, as we both know I still have a job that I must go to each day.

We had some big accomplishments this past week and we are heading in the right direction. You had your staples removed on Monday which was actually kinda gross to watch but has allowed you to shower on your own! YAY! Go, go, go Craig, it’s yer birthday, we’re gonna party like it’s yer birthday. Drink Bacardi like it’s yer birthday. Okay not quite but I am excited about this one. I even learned that if I leave you alone long enough you will put the chair in the tub on your own too. That must be the way to go, neglect you and you will have no choice but to do these things alone.

I know it isn’t true and there are some things that you still can’t do, like bend over to tie up your own shoes. As I finish our 5th month of pregnancy and head into the 6th, this is getting difficult for me as well. One of these days I am going to bend over and not be able to get back up… then what will we do? Won’t we be a sorry looking pair?

Another significant accomplishment was watching you shed the sweat pants and put the jeans back on! Woo hoo! When you thought the jeans felt a bit lose, you jumped on the scale and said, “Honey, come look! I’ve lost 12 pounds!” “Wow” I said, “why don’t you try putting the crutches down?” And you realized it was 13. Now, I could throw a crutch at you. You are the only person I know who lays around or sits around all day and manages to shed 13 pounds. That just isn’t fair!

Having said all that, this was a good week. I only had the urge to pull my hair out of my head a couple of times. Things are looking up, waaay up.

Love Nic,

p.s. keep up the good work.
