You may have to twist my arm

I know I mentioned our last Baby Dr. appointment.
You know, the one where we taped the heartbeat.
Well I didn’t tell my dear readers the entire story and
let me tell you, it has been damn hard keeping my mouth shut!

So the appointment goes like this:
Check blood pressure – good.
Check weight – oh, slightly more than should be. Must be all the Christmas partying.
Check Mommy’s uterus size – well it is definitly getting bigger. Looks good.
Check Pea’s heartbeat – 152 bpm. Nice. Strong. What I like to hear.

“So, are we finding out what the sex is?”
“Well, Dr., we would love to.”
“Okay, meet me over at the hospital on the 4th floor in about 20 minutes.”

Holy Shit! I can’t beleive we may actually find out what we are having!

So Craig and I trot across the street high on anticipation and we go to the Mommy and Baby ward to wait for the Doctor to call us in. The Dr. takes us to a room with an ultrasound and spends about 25 minutes trying to see the goods. The baby’s bottom was sitting right at my belly button and my belly button was casting a shadow RIGHT OVER THE GOODS!! Pea must have been sleeping because there was no cooperative movement going on. A kick or punch here and there, as if to say, “Leave me alone.”

Then, suddenly, the Dr. says “Ahh there it is. Do you see the three white lines? There is no penis. Yup, I am 99% sure you are having a girl.”

I am now finally able to share this with my loyal readers because we told our bewildered parents last night. I think they were shocked that we actually knew and had known for a week. Craig’s mother would prefer to be surprised. I figure she has had five surprises already so this one shouldn’t matter. They were all shocked that we didn’t tell them about the ultrasound to begin with and of course shocked that I was able to keep it hush hush for a week! LOL. I will have to post a picture of the T SHIRT that I was wearing to make the announcement.
