The New Family Drives West Part I

Our first trip together as a family of three. It is definitly an interesting experience to travel with a two month old. So much for having a distance goal at any given time… Piper was really in the driver’s seat.

We did the 12 hour drive in two days. That is how you know your life has truly changed. Craig and I would have done this trip without stopping for the night, but Piper had other plans. My mom came with us which made the trip that much easier! Three on one really is the best defense.

We spent a night with some family friends… we used to live in the same small town as them (Chipman, Alberta – ever heard of it?). It was nice to see them and do some catching up and share lots of laughs.

That was the great thing about our trip, we were able to catch up with some friends and family that we ahven’t seen for some time. It was awesome.

We spent a few days in Edmonton with my cousin Tami and her boyfriend, Doug. Hard to believe that it had been almost 5 years since we had seen eachother. The last time was at our wedding. Tami and I both turned 30 this year and it seemed so fitting that we were able to spend some time together.

There are some people in your life that you don’t see as often as you’d like but when you do, it is as if time has stood still. Tami and I always pick right up where we left off. Must make a priority of spending more time together. Must.

Tami is giving Piper a quick lesson on Texas Hold ’em. This is such a sweet picture of the two of them together. I hope she doesn’t mind I am posting her picture on my blog… I should have asked first, I guess.

We stayed up very very late (3:00 am late) playing cards. On our way to bed, Craig and I fed Piper and made it to bed at 4:00 a.m. Aside from getting up and feeding Piper at night, it has been a long long time since we have seen that hour.

Not likely to happen again any time soon… far too old.

A big big highlight of our trip was the tickets to the OILERS v. SHARKS game six hockey game! Piper didn’t go with us (although I would have loved to put that in her baby book). What a great experience to be there and to see Edmonton beat San Jose. I kinda felt bad because I know that my dad would have given his right arm to go… Craig and I were fortunate to get the free tickets from Doug – we just couldn’t thank him enough. It was awesome.

Piper spent the night with Gramma & Grampa while we went off to the game.

Loved every minute of it!!!!!

Looks and sounds like you had an awesome time! I would have died to go to the oilers game six game! You’re a lucky duck. I’m back to finding out the tiresome task of having a new puppy. Check out my blog for the latest pictures of Tyson!
