The Great Sleep Debate

My dear husband and I lay in bed last night having the great sleep debate… who needs more sleep and who gets more sleep. This of course was all based on Piper’s demands. Her demands during the day, the evening and her one wake up demand at night.

My dear husband knows that he can function on a lot less sleep than I can. It has always been that way for us and probably always will be. We have accepted it. Or so I thought. During our great sleep debate we agreed that we both have stressful and busy days. He at work and I at home here with Piper. Mine can be a little less stressful depending on the mood of Little Miss Pea. Good thing she is a morning baby – all shits and giggles, otherwise we would be in trouble.

In trying to convince Craig that just how busy my day can be I gave him a re-cap of yesterday:

5:00 a.m. Wake up with Craig. Fall back asleep.
5:30 a.m. Hear Piper starting to stir. Craig brings her to bed with me and kisses us both before leaving for work.
5:30 – 8:00 a.m. Lay in bed next to the wiggle worm while she moans and groans and kicks out her bum. She also sqwirms her way right up against me. Needless to say any snoozing I do for 2.5 hours is shit.
8:00 a.m. Get up with Piper. Get pablum and bottle ready. Talk to her, change her, feed her, play with her. Put her on the floor to entertain herself. Get in some computer time to check email, blogs etc.
9:00 a.m. Piper is getting sleepy and cranky so I try snuggling her – which usually works like a charm.
9:30 a.m. Piper is down for her morning nap. Take her to crib. Jump into the shower and get the stink off. LOL. Get Piper’s bottles ready for the day (clean etc).
10:00 a.m. After shower, while still in bathrobe, get AWAKE Piper out of her crib. Put Piper in my room so I can see her and finish getting dressed and blow drying hair. Because I have to entertain and watch Piper this takes a good 1/2 hour.
10:30 a.m (HOLY SHIT IS IT STILL MORNING?) Feed and change Piper early because we are going to the clinic and god forbid she get crusty there!
11:00 a.m. Leave house for clinic.
11:15 a.m. Stop to get gas.
11:30 a.m. Arrive at clinic right on time for my appointment with Dr.
Sit in the waiting room shhhh shhh shhing Piper because she is tired but won’t sleep in her stroller. Pick up Piper when she starts crying.

Noon: Carry her into the examination room. Finally get her to sleep just before the Dr. appears. Lay her on her side in her stroller to ensure she stays sleeping.
12:30 p.m. Done with appointment and Piper is still sleeping. Take her to van put her in car seat. Drive to the sportsplex to register Piper for swimming lessons (Woo hoo).
1:00 p.m. Finish registering Piper for lessons – she is in good quiet mood, decide to drive through Tim Hortons for a coffee.
1:30 p.m. Home again with Piper. Time to eat and change her. Get in some computer time while she lays in my arms. Notice how I haven’t eaten yet? Well had a donut from Timmy’s but you get my point. Change Piper again because she pooped while feeding her.
2:00 p.m. Done eating. Time to play and socialize my prodigy.
2:30 p.m. Piper is tired out and ready to nap. Get her down in her crib. Decide to pay some attention to my scrapbooking while she naps.
3:30 get Piper from crib. Change her. Play with her.
4:15 pm Feed Piper. Change her again because she pooped while feeding her.
5:00 Daddy’s home! YAY!!!!! Well my day doesn’t end here but at least now I have back up.

I am exhausted just reliving that day! LOL.
