Month Four – Letter to Piper

Dear Piper;

You make my heart sing. I am still looking for the last four months because I have no idea where they have gone. I swear that it was just yesterday that you entered our world and turned it upside down.

I marvel at you every day and the new things that you are doing… like sucking on your fist. I get so excited, like you were the first baby EVER to do this. Mommy knows that you aren’t but it is the first time YOU are doing these things and it is oh so special to me. I want to catch your entire life on tape or camera or digital so I can watch over and over and over again. Never missing a beat, a blink, a smile or a giggle. You have officially turned into a drool monkey and are getting very good at blowing spit bubbles. Somehow, I don’t think you realize what exactly you are doing just yet.

Sometimes, I feel that I have never looked more beautiful then when I am smiling with you in my arms. What an amazing gift I have been given to be your Mommy. There are times when I don’t want to put you down and I just want to lay there with you and take it allllll in, forever. The time is going by so fast… so fast indeed.

You really dig your jolly jumper and you squeal with delight when you are bouncing in it. It is great for me when I am cooking dinner and I plop you in there for a half hour. You talk and bounce for Momma while I am cooking.

I am certain that you are starting to mimick sounds, like when I say ‘Hi’ to you… is it possible that you are trying to talk to Momma? Who knows, but Piper it is music to my ears anyway. You are really finding your voice now with squeel of deeeelight. Gramma and Grampa came for the July long weekend and it was music every morning listening to you talk to them while I lay in bed catching a few extra zzzzzzz’s.

We are starting swimming lessons next week… You are gonna be a Starfish! I think that this could be so much fun or so much work, depending on what mood you are in. Once you decide you are tired – WATCH OUT. It’s sleep now and that can happen in a matter of seconds. Your mood can go from giddy to grouchy in 5.2 seconds. Kinda like that Mustang Mommy always wanted.

Mommy’s first cousin, Lizzy, is here visiting with us for two weeks. She is your third cousin. She really enjoys holding you and hanging out with you, which has been nice for me. I even convinced her to feed you in hopes that you would show her your “sneezing with a mouth full of pablum trick” but nothing yet. Still waiting.

The other day while Momma was changing your stinky diaper, and right in the middle of the change, you decided that you were not finished and proceeded to finish WITH NO DIAPER ON! You caught me totally off guard and I had to yell for your Daddy to step in and clean you up while I cleaned up myself. The whole time Lizzy was standing there laughing and being oh so very thankful that she wasn’t changing your diaper.

Mommy wanted to let you know that we are also quietly celebrating another birthday tomorrow. Your first cousin, Logan, would have been four. We will tell you all about him some day when you are a bit older. He was very much wanted and loved in our family but God decided that he should be our Angel instead.

We go for your 4 month shots tomorrow and my heart is aching already. I hate to see you go through that but we can hope that it will be just like last time. It only seemed to hurt for a minute and then you were fine. No crankyness in the evening at all. So lets hope it is that good, again.
