The GREAT One

There is only one people.
That’s right, I am talking about
WAYNE GRETZKY!

When I was a young girl (think 80’s),
my father had seasons tickets
to the Edmonton Oilers. The
Northlands Coliseum had it’s
roof blown off when the team was
at it’s peak. Winning five Stanley
cups in seven season, with the likes
of Wayne Gretzky.

Paul Coffey
Glenn Anderson
Grant Fuhr
(Oh, I could go on….)

It was during that time that my mother
took my sister and I to The Northlands
Coliseum during the Oilers day practise.
We would sit by the team bench and
watch them skate. Loving every minute
of it.
It was then, that Wayne Gretzky said
hello to me for the first time. BUT it
was not the last.

Fast forward 20 some years to tonight.
Gretzky and his Coyotes are in The Peg
playing an exhibition game against the
Edmonton Oilers.

As we are standing outside The Exchange
Restaurant in the MTS Centre just a few
feet from the ice surface, Wayne Gretzky
walks out on his way to the bench for
warm ups.

We all turn and look at him (he is sexy as
ever) and he gives us a nod, a hello and
he looks right at my Piper… the stinkinest
cutest baby ever… and gives her a wink.

Yep, the only effing day since Piper was born
that I didn’t have my effing camera with me!
Otherwise, I would have handed Piper to him
and said, “Smile for my camera, sexy.”
