Month Nine – Letter to Piper

Dear Piper –

I swear to the Diaper Genie that it was just yesterday I was writing your eight month letter. But alas an entire month has gone by! 9 crazy months! This has been one of your more productive months. Your babbling is starting to sound like “Piper conversation” and while we were at Gramma’s for a week I thought I heard you say “Momma” and “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”. I swear, once again, to the Diaper Genie! Just ask Gramma she says it sounded just like you were saying that too.

You have also learned to go from the tummy position to the sitting up position. It was funny. Mommy had put you down to sleep in your play pen and you were fussy. Gramma went in to check on you and all Mommy heard from your room was, “Piper, Piper honey… where are you? I can’t see you.” No, you did not disappear you were sitting up in the corner of your play pen. Now you do it often and we cheer, Yay Piper! My sweet sweet Piper. How we love you.

Kindermusik has been so much fun for us. We go each Wednesday for an hour and then we usually stop at the mall after. You really seem to enjoy our mornings out and Mommy does too. You recognize the Kindermusik songs at home when Mommy starts to sing them. You light up like a Christmas tree.

You are eating all of the same foods as Mommy and Daddy eat… you love to eat. You make these perfect little sighs after each bite, as if to say “Oh. My. God. I have never tasted anything sooooo good!” I really hope that your eating habits don’t change too much. I love watching you enjoy your food and you enjoy Mommy & Daddy’s too. We love to share with you.

We put up our Christmas Tree and your Baby’s 1st Christmas ornament is hanging right at the top. You also had your first ever visit with the big guy in red, Santa Claus. We were a wee bit worried that you might cry but instead you giggled and smiled and loved every minute of it. It’s like you already know the magic that this man brings to children of all ages. You are a smart smart girl.

We are all looking forward to Christmas with you. I know the wrapping paper and boxes are going to steal the show and that’s okay. I have to be honest and tell you that the gifts you are getting from Mommy & Daddy are because we wanted them. I am sure that you will like them all too and if you are nice we may even let you play with them. I cannot even begin to imagine what Gramma & Grampa will be putting under the tree, but I bet it’s good (and I can’t wait!)

Piper, you are on the move. It’s a little scary. Right now, you are still slow enough that Mommy is having no problems keeping up with you…. but you are going to pick up speed and well, frankly, that frightens me just a little bit. Once you are walking you are going to loose those chubby little legs of yours and Mommy will miss them so so much. I love all your baby chub. It looks good on you.

We continue to have so much fun during the days and we are learning so much together. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic end to the year 2006. The next letter that Mommy writes to you will be dated 2007! And she just can’t believe it.

Mommy loves you, Sweetest Pea.

Love, Mommy

Your letters to Piper always make me cry, I can’t help it. I’m so touched by your writing and it comes across SO clearly how much you love that little girl. She’s gonna read these someday and it will mean the world to her.
