Dear Piper –

You are ten months old today and having the time of your freaking life (as you can tell by the picture here). You look like you are riding “Top Gun” at Canada’s Wonderland in Toronto… but you are not, it is just your swing set up in our living room. You don’t know the difference and right now you don’t care. You are starting to pull up on everything but mostly Mommy. I am the official climbing wall and jungle gym.

You enjoyed your first holiday season at Gramma & Grampa’s. You were pretty good at opening the gifts but the wrapping paper stole the show. Once it was all cleaned up you became very interested in your new gifts. There are alot more toys for Mommy to clean up off the floor now.

You were really well behaved during the holidays which is amazing considering the upset to your schedule and all the new faces coming and going. We certainly had a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to next year. It is hard to imagine that it gets better than this. We can hardly wait.

You have finally called out for Momma. Gramma was holding you and you were tired and cranky. In the middle of your cry you looked at me, held out your arms and said Momma. It was the very first time. You haven’t done it since, but that is okay. I much prefer when you are your happy bubbly baby self but it certainly was nice to hear you calling my name.

You are certainly growing in leaps and bounds. Just the other day, I was looking at pictures from the day you were born and I am just so amazed at how small you were and at how big you are now. You are still sharing our bed with us any time after midnight and we are okay with that. Mommy and Daddy often talk about getting you to finish the night off in your own crib but we have yet to do that. We both enjoy having your warm body in between us and your hand in our face and your feet kicking into our rib cages. Now Daddy knows what it feels like… Mommy already knows because of those 9 glorious months that you and I shared together. In all seriousness though, Piper, sometimes it is not much fun for us to share sleeping quarters with you. You flip and flop like a fish out of water and if I wasn’t worried about you falling out of bed, I would get up and go to another room.

It won’t be long now, Miss Sweet Pea and you are going to be hitting the one year mark. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure that this hasn’t all been just dream.

But I already know that it isn’t just a dream because that would mean that I am actually getting a good night’s sleep. Which has been hard to do with your foot in my back.

Here is to a brand new year that will only be better than the last. I can never tell you enough how much you are loved so, Mommy loves you Sweetest Pea.

Love, Mommy
