Confessions of a Husband

Not only did I manage to come down with a head cold, I also managed to catch a flu bug. I came down with the flu on Friday night. Saturday morning when Craig got up to go to work, I asked him if he was in any shape to care for Piper when he had the flu…. he called in a sick day.

I spent the entire day and night in bed pleading for sweet relief from the nausea. It didn’t come until sometime after midnight last night. Craig came to bed at 9:00 totally exhausted. When I asked him why he was so tired,

he said “I was up at 5:30 am”.
I said, “You are up at 5:30 am everyday.”
he said “Ya, I know. Piper is busy, It’s alot of work watching her all day.”
I said “So now you truly know what my day is like.”
he said “I have always said that.
I said “Did you enjoy your day with her?”
he said “Ya, but I could never be a SAHD (stay at home dad)”

And it is true folks… I got up with Piper this morning so he could sleep in (I feel 100% better) and my house is a friggen disaster. I am not supermom and don’t always get all of the housework done, but Craig managed to do nothing. I much prefer Craig getting up and going to work because then he helps out so much here at home. Not so much when he was SAHD for a day.

You are a better SAHM than me! My house constantly looks like crap, whether I’m sick or not πŸ™‚

Hope you are feeling better!

It’s good for him to get a dose of your reality isn’t it?

I just want to state for the record that I have never thought that mothers have anything resembling and easy job. Also that I have never thought I could do as good a job as Nicole.

I think of myself (humorously) as a substitute teacher – I fill in for some period of time, but nothing that really should get accomplished does. We just watch movies all day long. The regular teacher returns to find herself further behind than when she left. Not unlike the people behind the elephants and horses in a parade. πŸ™‚
