Clear as a bell

I can see clearly now the rain is gone… or the snow, as is the case here today!

The procedure itself was really a neat experience. They offered me an Ativan to calm me if I was feeling uptight or nervous at all (I declined). I really didn’t feel nervous. That was until one of the technicians tried to explain the procedure to me. This is what I was told. I would feel pressure, a sucking on my eyeball and then everything would go dark. Some people suck at their jobs… I still didn’t take the Ativan and when the Doctor actually explained the procedure it didn’t sound near as bad. I mean the whole, “and then everything will go dark” seemed pretty harsh to me.

I could see everything from the red flashing light that would be the laser to the doctor removing the flap from eye to the doctor replacing the flap and using a device (what looked like a big ass ice scraper) to flatten the flap properly over my eye and in the correct position. The actual laser part looked like fireworks and when the flap was removed it didn’t go dark… the lights just got dim.

My eyes felt pretty grainy yesterday once the numbing wore off but I had a 2 hour nap and woke up feeling great. My eyes feel great today and I can see. It is pretty impressive and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I found your blog by accident and very interestingly have been discussing lasik surgery for my daughter(who is 21) and am a bit nervous about it. She has her first appointment when she comes home from school in May to see if she is a candidate. I am so glad to read that you would recommend this. Hope all is still well with you. Must’ve been fate that I saw your blog. Your munchkin is ADORABLE.
