Dear Piper –

I am really enjoying what a little girl you are becoming and the personality that is starting to shine. Fourteen months and Mommy still wonders if this has been just the most glorious dream. I quickly realize it is no dream when, at the end of the day, I realize my back aches from picking you up and putting you down. All my muscles are coming to life as I chase, yes I am literally running, after you everywhere. As soon as you started to walk, you were quickly running.

Mommy going back to work was a big adjustment for us but it was much easier than Mommy had expected it would be. I would still much rather be home spending my days with you. The first few weeks of dropping you off at day care were hard. You cried. Somedays, you cried even before we were out of the van. Then you would cry when I picked you up. Despite the fact that you were having fun at the sitters, you suddenly realized how much you missed me. Then, all of a sudden, I drop you off and there were no tears…. and I couldn’t help but feel a bit sad. We really could not have asked for a better sitter for you. We are very happy about that.

You absolutely love to be outdoors. At first you would just stand in the grass and yell your little heart out. Then you discovered that you could actually walk in the grass… and soon, you will be running. Mommy brought your little walker outside for you and you just took right off down the street. You were a baby on a mission and there was no looking back.

You have turned into a dance dance dance dance dancing machine…. you do not care what is playing you just start grooving to the music. You have started singing too. In Piper babble, of course. It’s the cutest thing even though I have no idea what you are saying.

You also love to read your books. You will sit in the living room surrounded by your books without a care in the world. You love when Mommy and Daddy read with you. Some of our favourite books are:

Barnyard Dance – Sandra Boynton
The Belly Button Book – Sandra Boynton
But not the Hippopotamus – Sandra Boynton
One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish – Dr. Seuss

Just to name a few. We love our reading time together.

We celebrated Mommy’s birthday this month and had a wonderful day with Daddy, Grama and Papa. You were so well behaved and you entertained us with your giggles and smiles.

Mommy feels so incredibly blessed to have you in her life.

Mommy loves you, Sweetest Pea.

Love, Mommy.

Obviously, Sandra Boynton is popular at your house! Love her stuff! Can’t wait for Andrew to start appreciating it more.

Happy 14 Months, Piper!!! Such a cutie!
