Dear Piper –
Banana
Seems to be your favourite word and your favourite snack. I love watching you toddle your way over to the counter, reach out your arms and say, “Banana”. It doesn’t sound quite that clear but Mama knows what you are saying.

We have settled into a nice routine and you are now enjoying your time spent at day care. There are no more tears when I drop you off and no more tears when I pick you up. This makes Mommy very happy, knowing that you are being so well cared for and having fun. Maybe too much fun, if that is possible. The other day when Mommy picked you up, you were not ready to leave your little playmates. You were enjoying yourself so much. When Mommy said, “Piper, should we go home to Daddy?” You shook your head and said, “No.”. When Mommy went to leave you ran over and grabbed on. You are still your Mommy’s girl.

The highlight to my day is when I am driving home from work and knowing I will spend the evening playing with you. No matter how tired I am, it is all washed away when you run over to me with a big grin, your arms spread wide and you fall into my lap giggling. These are the moments that my life is made of. You make me forget everything else.

You are learning new words all the time now. Just the other day, you and I were sitting on the couch together and I told Molson to go to his bed. You stood up, threw out your arms and said “Go!”. It made Mama proud. You are also saying, Papa, No, Banana, and Piper…. yes you are starting to say your own name. Gramma swears to the diaper genie that you said Gramma on the phone the other night. Such a smart girl you are.
You came down with your very first flu bug just before Mother’s day. You were so good about it all and took the days in stride. You spent lots of time sleeping and in Mommy and Daddy’s arms. I knew our bond was the real deal, when you threw up all over me and I just sat there until you were finished. My only thoughts were of your comfort and of you feeling better. The extra cuddle time was nice, but I don’t like to see you sick.

You attended your first wedding and you had a great time! You kept Mommy busy chasing you around and trying to keep you from running up the aisle at the Church. We stayed at the reception until 11:00 p.m. and you were in great spirits. You danced your little heart out.

Speaking of dancing… you love love love to dance. It is so cute to watch you groove to the music. Any music. Television commericals even. You bop your head and shake your bum. What a joy you are! You are the belle the ball all the time.

You have such a great personality and you are almost always in a great mood. You love to giggle and laugh and smile. Even when you are tired or hungry you just complain a little and then you go right back to being happy little you.

I love you so very much and I know your Daddy does too. We watch you sleeping or playing and we steal a glance at eachother and smile…. Forever thankful for the blessing that is you.

Mommy loves you, Sweetest Pea.

Love Mommy.
