Month 17 – Letter to Piper

Dearest Piper –

It’s hard to believe that you are going to be a big sister. It seems like such a big responsibility for such a little girl. Mama knows that you will do just fine! Mama just can’t believe that this time next year she will have a 29 month old and a five month old. We are sure going to be busy.

You are developing into such a character. You still love to dance and read but you have also found joy in pestering the animals. I found you in the living room trying to pick up Smokey (who, I think, weighs more than you do). When you weren’t quite able to that, you body slammed him to the ground in an attempt to hug him. The craziness of it all is that he just let you do it.

You are starting to get lots of hair. It is in the style of a mullet right now, but Mommy is afraid to cut it. You have this sweet little curl at the back that sticks out from your hats. You usually wake with bed head in the morning and it is hard to tame.

You spent four days with Gramma and Papa while Mommy and Daddy celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary in Las Vegas. We missed you but we knew you were in good hands and having a great time.

We took you to an amusement park and you loved every thing about it. You thought the rides were the greatest thing and the cotton candy at the end of the day was the icing on the cake.

You were so tired by the time we left that we hardly had you strapped into your seat and you were sawing logs. The ride home was peaceful and we were so happy that you had so much fun.

We took you again on Friday evening and leaving the park this time was a bit of a chore. Although you were exhausted, you were certainly not ready to leave. You protested and protested and protested…. but we had no choice, the park was closing.

You are starting to challenge us more and more now and really making us earn those Parenting stripes. Sometimes, it’s so hard not to laugh so I usually walk around the corner into another room and smile. It’s cute right now, but won’t cute for much longer and certainly won’t be cute if you keep doing it. Things like, hitting Molson when he invades your territory while you are eating your beloved crackers.

Ah, fun stuff this parenting thing.

Things you love: crackers, crackers, crackers. You cannot get enough. You will eat crackers morning noon and night.

What you are saying now: Mama, Papa, Dada, Piper, Gramma, Mo Mo (Molson), cracker (caacaa), thank you (tan ew), Bandit (bando).

At the end of the month we are taking a short family holiday…. we were considering shopping and camping in the states. We are re-considering the shopping part as you aren’t so much fun to take shopping these days. You are far to busy and far to independent to be in your stroller. Whatever we do, we will have fun and we are looking forward to it.

Mommy wants you to know that she loves you and she looks forward to watching you with your new baby brother or sister in the spring.

Mommy loves you , Sweetest Pea.

Love Mommy.
