Molson

Molson joined our family in July of 2000, fresh
from the litter. We had just bought our first
home and couldn’t wait to fill it with the pitter
patter of little feet… but we weren’t ready to
start having kids.

Molson claimed us right from the start. We went
out to see him twice before he came home and each
time he would come to us. No coaxing, he just
came. He was the only boy in a litter of 8 and
he was the smallest. But that made no difference
to us, he grabbed hold of our hearts instantly.

Raising him was so trying. He could be such a pain
in the ass, but he was such a great dog. He was
gentle and caring and a constant companion. He was
just always there. At my feet. It drove me crazy
and now I miss it so much that my heart aches.

He lived in four houses with us and made four moves.
He sat at our feet when infertility wore us down and
he bounced around the house with us each time we
celebrated a pregnancy.

He waited patiently for us when we spent all our time
at the NICU with Piper and he rejoiced the day we
brought her home. He understood when our lives
revolved around a baby and he made her his friend.

He was kind and gentle and funny. He was constant.
He loved us unconditionally. He looked the other
way when Piper grabbed his ears or his tail and he
sat close by when she laid on the floor.

He followed her around in hopes of stealing a bite
of her snack and oh how she giggled. I always
dreamed we would have a toddler in the house for
Molson to play with. It was more joyous than
I ever expected it to be.

I can’t sit here wishing for one more day or one
more snuggle because that would never be enough.
I just hope he knew how much this family loved
him and how much this family will miss him.

I’m sooo sorry. Losing a pet is like losing a family member… and it’s clear Molson was very loved family to you.
