At this time…
A cousin of mine took his own life this
week. Leaving behind his wife, three
young children and two devastated parents.
As well as many other relatives.
I can’t begin to imagine the despair that
must take over that would bring one person
to such a dark place. To make such a
decision. Such a final resolution to his
problems.
We were once very close. As young kids
we played together all the time and as
young teenagers we hung out together.
Went skiing and snowmobiling… then, as
often happens in life, we drifted apart.
Family gatherings became the only times
that we ever saw eachother and we spoke
very little. Usually a greeting, a joke
or two, some conversation about the kids
and then a goodbye.
But that is what life is. I don’t know
that things would have been any different
for him if all of us cousins had of remained
closer than what we were. I can’t even
begin to question those things, I am a firm
believer that there is a plan for us and for
our lives.
I just ask that if you are the praying kind
that you say a prayer for his wife and three
children and for his parents. They need the
strength and the comfort to get them through
this very dark time.
