Davilyn Paige made her grand debut on Sunday June 1, 2008 at 11:27 a.m. She was assessed at 34 plus weeks and was a whopping 7lbs 1oz (just like her big sister Piper) and was 19.5 inches long.

They say Christmas is the season of miracles, but it would appear that for our family Spring is the season of miracles. She is beautiful.

I started having contractions on Monday May 26, 2008 (which turned into nothing) and had me stop working at the office early. I finished up my work at home. Then on Saturday morning I woke at 4:00 a.m. to contractions that were 10 – 15 minutes apart. They stayed that way until 8:30 a.m. when they stopped. I had various contractions throughout the day but nothing that told me we were having a baby any time soon.

My contractions started up again on Sunday June 1, 2008 at 1:30 a.m. I timed them myself for a few hours and they were a constant 10 minutes apart. At 3:00 they started coming every 5 minutes. I woke Craig up and he timed them for me. At 4:00 we decided to go to the hospital and arrived there about 5:00. I was 2 cm dilated and only 35 weeks so they gave me morphine for the pain and hoped they would stall my contractions. It seemed to work but as soon as the morphine wore off my contractions picked up right where they left off. As I was scheduled for c-section for June 30, this was a bit early but we headed off immediatly for a c-section.

As far as c-sections go (and in comparison to my last) this was a walk in the park…. I was terribly nervous but my fears were quickly set aside when I actually had to be told that they had started the procedure and my baby girl would arrive any minute.

Davilyn was assessed at 34 plus weeks and is spending some time in the NICU. We are so much more prepared this time since Piper eased us on into these experiences when she was born.

I am a mother of two. Two beautiful little girls. How many times can one possibly fall head over heals in love? It would appear that for The Rumour Mill President and CEO that number has reached three so far. It’s amazing the feelings. The bliss. I am consumed by it for Craig, Piper and Davilyn. My heart is bursting from my chest and it can’t be contained. I am so blessed.

Piper’s comment to Daddy as they walked to the NICU to see Davilyn for the first time….

“Little sister (pause)… finally!”

Congratulations! I had a feeling, since you’d been absent for a while and there had been so much activity lately. An absolutely gorgeous name! You know how I’m into different names (Draevyn), lol. She’s beautiful. I want one!

I know this is an odd post. But, I Googled my first name and wondered if anyone actually names their daughter Davilyn. And, poof, your blog appeared.

At first I didn’t like my name; but in the last 50 years, Ive grown to my name.

I do pronounce my name differently Dave – a – lyn.

May you have many wonderful times and your life be filled with the joy of treasuring your daughter.

Davilyn from North Wales, PA
