Month 38 – Letter to Piper

Dear Piper ~

You are one cool kid!  You know how to have fun and make us laugh!
My Mama bear instincts came out with a vengeance this past month when a few girls from around the neighbourhood have come over to play.  They are much older you, 6 and older, but you don’t care.  You love having friends…. lots of friends and you will give up your spot on the swing for any one of them.
However, with the older age, comes other things two.  Like purposefully singling out one or another or just plain being hurtful.  You are just so innocent yet.  You have no idea what is going on and I am not ready to let that go.  You deserve to continue to live in a world where everyone loves everyone and we all love playing together and sharing.  Once you are off to kindergarten, things will change.  But not yet and I am going to foster that for as long as I can!

You have a little friend, Emily, that you play so well with. My only complaint is that they don’t live next door! You and Emily are only two months apart in age and are so similar that we sometimes call you the “twins”. I love the way you girls play and giggle together and I love watching your little friendship grow.  I hope that circumstances allow the two of you to be friends for many, many years to come.  True friendships are very special and you will learn that all on your own.
We are coming to the end of your first year of preschool.  I am pretty sure that you will be quite upset when you understand that you won’t be going every Tuesday and Thursday.  Next fall you will only attend on Wednesdays, as Mama’s work schedule will allow.  I am so glad that I registered you because you took to it, like a fish to water.  You love going to preschool!  I seriously hope that this feeling lasts you throughout your entire education!
Piper, you make me so proud.  My heart melts when I watch you caring over your friends, sharing your toys, and just being a good individual.  I love you so much!  Happy 38 months, Sweet Pea!
Love Mama
