Torturous Threes?

OH.MY.WORD.  The age three is torturous… the “terrible” twos ain’t got nothin on these threes! In fact, the twos were pretty darn terrific here.

Piper is so sassy.  Defiant.  Independent.  Did I say sassy?  Wow.  I’m in for a heap of trouble when she is a teenager…. and an even bigger fear is that Davilyn may be worse.  Just a hunch I’m having right now.
I know the key is to be consistent and sometimes, that is so hard.  It’s summer.  It’s nice out. We want to spend our time outside while we can but my girls need an early bedtime.  7:30 at the latest.  Anything much later and our evenings turn into Temper Tantrum Central.  Piper really needs to be napping… but that becomes such a vicious cycle for us.  If she naps, that pushes her bedtime much later.  We start bedtime at the same time but she is usually up chatting, tossing and turning until 10:00!  It’s a no win situation for us right now.
Then to add insult to injury, Davilyn won’t stay asleep in her own crib!  So we are desperately trying to bring her to our bed at night… and it sucks.  She doesn’t understand the family bed concept.  She sees Piper and is instantly awake.  Then she spends the rest of the night tossing and turning.  We.are.miserably.tired.  Help.

Oh yeah. You always hear about the "terrible twos" but no one ever mentions that three is MUCH worse. The 3's was always my least favorite classroom to work in. YIKES! A whole room full of the independent, defiany, mouthy little creatures.

All I can say is it will get better. And we aren't sleeping either, so no help there.
