Getting ready for your arrival

because it could happen in as little as 7 weeks… and I am a wee bit scared about that. So let’s make it an even 10 weeks. Deal?

Part of getting ready for your arrival includes going through rubbermaid bins full of clothing that your sisters have worn. I washed them and as I was folding them and hanging them in your closet I just could not help but stop to think. Think about how this is the last time that I will go through these clothes. The last time, I will set up a nursery. The last time I will marvel at how cute they are, how good they smell and wonder what my newborn will look like wearing them.

There are many items that hang in your closet and many that I remember where they came from. Who they came from. Did Piper wear them? Or just Davilyn? Then there are the new items that I will buy (and that I have bought) that will be just yours. No other baby of mine will ever wear them.

Some of these outfits have been favourites of mine from the start. Ones that I put Piper in as often as I could before she outgrew them. Ones that I put Davilyn in as often as I could before she outgrew them… And ones that I intend to put you in as often as I can before you grow too big for them. Outfits, that I might hide away to pull out when you and your sisters are far too big for me to even imagine that you ever wore them.

So, we have a few more weeks left together… just you and I. Then you will be here and I will have to share you with all the world. In just a few short months I will know who you look like. The sound of your cry. The smell of your skin. The size of your feet and whether or not you will be third child of mine to inherit her daddy’s cute bum. And I will be done having babies and our family will be complete. And the time will move far too quickly and I will race to breathe it all in before it is gone.

You will be dressed in your sister’s hand me downs and some things for just you. You will be showered with love, affection and probably some jealousy but you will fit right here where you belong. The final piece to our puzzle. The one to make it all complete. Then, we will move onto the next leg of our Amazing Race. Together. Complete. Finished.

What an amazing post! (Wow I swear I just read the post about you being pregnant and look how far along you are already?)

So glad that you are able to complete your family.
