Another month that I am pretty happy to see come to an end. What a miserable month it has been here at The Rumour Mill. We have been so unbelievably sick around here that we were a mere inches from torching our house in order to get rid of all the germs. Kidding, of course…
As soon as we recovered from the flu bug, the girls came down with colds. Coughing, hacking, CROUP, colds. It has been over two weeks since any one of had a good nights sleep. A few hours here and there is down right misery. It was worse than any sleep deprivation from when they were newborns. We were reaching the end of our rope.
Friday night, I really believed could have been a good night. The girls were coughing less, seemed happier and had more energy… was I ever wrong. It was the worst night of the entire month. Davilyn was up every hour until 3:30 a.m. when I finally caved and tried sleeping with her in Piper’s bed. Sleeping with my NON co-sleeper. She finally settled around 4:00 and I had to be up before 7:00. I was finishing up some training on Saturday and I was beat.
Then Saturday night we made the decision to let Davilyn cry at bedtime. I refuse to do that when she is sick… that is just cruel. She cried and called out for Mommy, Daddy (and Piper) but after 15 minutes and before 7:00 p.m. she fell asleep… and 14 hours later, she woke for the day. What a glorious night it was!
So… goodbye January! Let’s not repeat this one.
