Of my two little girls. A few weeks ago, we decided to put Davilyn back in her “own” room and deal with Piper’s night waking. This was a decision that Craig made and although I liked the idea of Piper sleeping through the night in her room… I was not sold on the process to get there. I guess, deep down, I didn’t think it would be a smooth transition, nor did I believe it would be at all easy. I wanted to ignore the whole thing.

Craig had other plans. We have been reading (and he has been listening to podcasts) on Positive Parenting. This is where his plan came from.

So it started off by just getting Piper to stay in her own bed all night long. If she woke and cried out for us, we would go into see her. Give her a cuddle, remind her that it is bedtime and leave. We explained to her what we wanted from her and what we expected and if she could do this then she would get a very special treat. She choose to have breakfast at McDonald’s.

The first night, she came into our room but did not get into our bed. She did wake Craig who then took her back to her room. After that first night, she stayed in her own bed… all.night.long. She continued to wake and cry out for us and we continued to go and remind her that she needed to lay down and go back to sleep.

Until… Craig decided to put a stop to the crying out for us. It’s working. Instead of crying out for us, she has gone to the bathroom (twice) and waited for us there. Then we explained to her that this was the same thing. If she wakes up, she needs to lay down and go back to sleep on her own.

The last few nights… not a peep. It’s working and it has been pretty harmless. There have been no tears. It’s almost been…. shall I dare say… easy.

If this continues then I expect that Diva 1 and Diva 2 will sharing a room again by this weekend.

That's awesome, I love seeing parents work so well together. Good job guys!!!

I take it from the lack of mention of Diva 3 that you're hanging in there!

Yes, hanging in there! Do have an update to post, though.
