The puzzle is complete…

Quinn Adele arrived on Tuesday March 23, 2010 via C-Section. She was 35 + weeks weighing 6lbs 14.4 oz and was 20 inches long.
On Monday evening we noticed that my feet and ankles were swelling. Craig then promptly announced that we had better be ready the baby would be arriving the next day… and he was right.
I started having contractions at 1:30 Tuesday morning that were primarily in my back and my thighs. We decided to go to the hospital and arrived at 7:00 a.m. The contractions were every 5 minutes and it became clear (very quickly) that I was, in fact, in labour and we would be having our baby that day. The hospital was extremely busy and the NICU full. I was preterm (35+ weeks) and there was talk about transferring me to the other hospital in the city with a NICU. I, thankfully, did not get transferred.
The same Doctor that was on call the day Davilyn was born, also delivered Quinn. Despite having had two previous c-sections, I was extremely nervous and anxious. Quinn was still frank breech and delivering her took quite a bit of work, but everything went well. For the first time, ever, Craig was able to hold her in the delivery room and we were able to visit.
She was taken to NICU observation to monitor her rapid breathing and when it didn’t slow down, she was admitted. The Doctors were very optimistic that her stay at the NICU would be short. As her feeds increased, she also started to “forget to breathe” when she was eating and this would cause her heart rate to slow right down. It was a matter of coordination for her and pacing her feeding for us. So I stayed one extra night in the hospital and between Craig and I we did all of her feeds for 24 hours. This allowed us to become comfortable with recognizing her signs and pacing her properly.
Quinn and I came home from the hospital together. Another first and my primary goal throughout my pregnancy with her. I consider this a great victory. So we are all home together tonight and trying to settle into a new routine with a new little person in our home.
Some of us are adjusting better than others but it will take some time and the big sisters will wonder what life was like without their littlest sister.
Welcome Home, Quinn. We’ve been waiting for you.

I am very happy with how it all played out. I don't mind the brief NICU stay since she was able to come home with me when I left the hospital.

THAT, alone, is priceless.
