On being a Mom of Three

I can see already that it is going to be hard work. I mean, I knew it was… but now I really know it is. Piper has been acting out quite a bit for the last month or more. I think it is a number of things including the arrival of my In laws which coincided with my first stay in the hospital. Then the arrival of Quinn, which also coincided with a 4 night 5 day stay in the hospital. She has started waking through the night upset and crying. While I was in the hospital, she was crying for me. Now that I am home, she says she is scared.

She was doing so well. In her own room, in her own bed until morning seven* showed up on her alarm clock. I expect that there will be times when we take a few steps back and that is okay… I am just ready to start stepping forward with this again.
Davilyn is a handful at times. She is much more defiant at this age then Piper was. In fact, they are head to head right now. Davilyn is vocalizing her defiance too which still catches me off guard a bit. Piper was much softer with her defiance where Davi is much more stern and certain that it is her way or the highway. Apparently, Karma really is a bitch.
Quinn is such a good baby. She sleeps well, eats well and travels well. I took the girls to my parents for a week (3 – 4 hour drive) and both ways Quinn slept the entire time. I fed her before we left and she didn’t make a peep until we got home. Awesome. This past week, she seems to have her days and her nights mixed up. She enjoys visiting for a few hours after midnight. I do not. Especially when I have two very active girls to care for during the day. I hope this resolves itself soon. I am on my own again during the day.
I find myself trying to figure out the logistics of grocery shopping with the three girls and am pretty sure that at this point, it cannot be done. Piper can walk but I need both Davilyn and Quinn in the shopping cart. That then leaves no room for groceries. So until Davilyn can cooperate and walk with us, it will either be ALL of us going for groceries or just one of us.
Being a Mom of three is challenging…
*Craig has taught Piper to recognize 7:00 on a digital clock. She has been doing so great at not coming to our room to wake us before she sees that “morning seven”.

Sounds like you may need husband to pick up groceries on his way home from work. That's how we do it when things are too hectic to get to the store on the weekend. Good luck!
