“Play-Doh”

There have been many times over the years when I have thought about making my very own play-doh, but I have never… until now.  I actually found a very easy recipe in my Today’s Parent magazine, so I pulled out the page and tucked it away for a rainy day.  For all I know, all play-doh recipes are this easy… and if they are then all I want to know is, “What are you waiting for!”  You need to make some for your very own kiddlebugs!

Instead of using food colouring, the recipe calls for Kool-Aid!  It also makes the play-doh smell kinda good.  2 of the Divas and I enjoyed it, anyway.

The recipe in the magazine is actually called Kool-Aid drink mix play clay.  So here is the recipe:

2.5 Cups flour

1/2 Cup Salt

2 packages (6g each) Kool-Aid Unsweetened Drink Mix (any flavour)

2 tablespoons cream of tartar

2 cups boiling water

3 tablespoons oil

Then you mix the first 4 ingredients in a large bowl.  Add the boiling water and oil; stir with a fork for 3 – 4 minutes (or until it is cooled enough for you to mix with your hands).

Place it on waxed or parchment paper; knead until no longer sticky, adding additional flour 1 teaspoon at a time if you need to.

Happy sculpting!  I made some orange flavoured play-doh the other day and we used our pumpkin shaped cookie cutter to make pumpkins!
