Pay it Forward

We have all heard that phrase.  Maybe we have participated in some form.  You can read here about one of my experiences with Random Acts of Kindness and how that completely changed the direction of my day.  It was $1.50 out of her pocket to pay for my coffee, but the impact for me was worth much more than that.

It’s hard to choose what to donate our money, our time and our resources to.  If I donated to every cause that pulled at my heartstrings, then I would be holding out my own hand for donations.  Sometimes, though, there is that thing that pulls you in and you just can’t ignore it.

It happened to me today.  So I am going to provide someone with an opportunity to do something, that they really can’t afford to do, but they want to do.  I’m not talking about going on a vacation.  Or buying a bigger house or a new car because we have all (or most of us) have been there, but we haven’t all experienced the worry from not having enough food on the table, or heat in our homes.  Most of us don’t think twice when our children ask us if they can play hockey or join dance.  I know we didn’t.  We were happy to get Piper involved.  Some families just don’t have that option.

I live a fortunate life even when money is tight and our budget is buldging at it’s seems. My children are healthy, our families are healthy and we are healthy.  Craig and I both have jobs.  My life has been truly blessed and I am thankful for that, daily.

So, I want to pay that forward.  I am going to pay that forward.  I am asking you to pay that forward.  It doesn’t have to cost you a lot of money.  It doesn’t have to cost you any money.  Sometimes, your time, is all that is needed.  It’s true.

Our time has more value to it then we know.

Last year the person in the car ahead of me bought my coffee and so I did the same for the person behind me. The cashier at the Timmies said I was about the 5th car… I wonder how long it went until the pay it forward ended. I hope it went on for a while.

We too, are blessed. Sometimes we forget that it is so simple to make a difference in someone’s life – this is a good time of year for the reminder. Thank you!!
