Resolutions

I am not a fan of making resolutions.  I never keep them, so why make them.  I have started to make goals for the upcoming year.  Which is completely different than a resolution.  When I think of resolutions, I think of things like need to lose weight.  Which is true but I already feel terrible enough that I haven’t so why add to that by making a resolution that I won’t keep.

The goals I have in mind are as follows:

1.  De-clutter – We have entirely too much stuff taking up residence in our house.  Stuff that we don’t use and probably will never use.  It needs to go.  When my surroundings are cluttered it affects my mood completely.  I find that I start to avoid the area or even the room where the clutter resides.  This is a goal that I need Craig’s help on because he is so much better at organization than I am.

2.  Patience – I want to have more patience in my life.  With myself, with Craig and especially with the Divas.  I have to remember that letting them do things for themselves helps them to become independent.  It gives them confidence.  So even though helping them or doing it for them is far easier, I need to let them figure things out.  I need to let them experiment.  Even if it means that there are homemade mud pies on my deck and sand tracking itself throughout my house.  They won’t be this young forever.

3. Time with my husband – I want to carve out more time for just the two of us.  I could probably count on one hand how many times we hired a babysitter in the last year. How many times we had a date night.  We were fortunate to be able to go Vegas last July while my Mom had the girls but we need to carve out time for our relationship on a regular basis.

4. Photography – There are many elements to this goal of mine.

*   Be in more pictures with my adorable girls and my handsome husband.  I am so       often the one taking the pictures that there are none of me.

*  Take another photography course.  I have a great camera and I have been taking a lot of photos trying to get used to it.  I shoot in manual mode often, but I also fall back on auto when I am unsure of myself.  I now have 3 lenses, two of which are quite nice, and I want to use them properly.

*  Learn to use some of the editing programs that I have.  I don’t like pictures that are over edited or look fake but sometimes it would be awesome if I could do a few different things with some of my pictures.

5.  Blog – Continue to work hard on my blog.  I took a giant leap of faith last year when I put it out there.  The feedback that I have received has been awesome, flattering and is very much appreciated.

and last but not least

6.  Have fun – This one is my favourite!  I vow that we will have just as much (if not more) fun in 2011 than we did in 2010.

Great resolutions! I also have patience and de-clutter, well organize. And I should have added time with the hubby. We need to take time for each other too! Love your blog. I am following you now! Thanks for checking out mine too! Happy New Year.
