Epic Fail

Lately at the supper table Davilyn has a battle of wills with us over eating her meal.  She starts off by telling us how much she doesn’t like what is on the plate in front of her.  We always remind her that in fact she does like it.  At least she did last week when we served it.

More often than not, Craig and I win these little battles.  She is usually persuaded to eat something.

Last night, we failed.  Big time.  Or I should say, I failed.

I told her she could either eat her supper or go to bed early (it was before 5:00 p.m.).  She opted to go to her bed early.  I fully expected that I would go in and check on her and she would cave and agree to come out and eat something off of her plate.  The first time I went in, she said, “No.”  So I left her there.  The second time I went in, I found her asleep.

And that my friends, was an Epic Fail.

Not an epic fail in my eyes. Parents standing their ground, showing a child who is the boss, and setting boundaries is always a win in my books.

One of my children regularly chooses bed over dinner. And we are fine with that. He just eats more breakfast. 😉

I have to agree, NOT an epic fail. I’ll bet she was hungry this morning! You have to follow through, and you did. I’m proud of you – that isn’t easy. (BTW, since she went to bed so early, did she wake up super early today?)

She was up at 6:30. Which isn’t too terribly early for our kids. Anytime before 7:00 is the norm around here.
