Creatures of Habit

My girls never sleep well away from home.  It is just something that we have adjusted to.  We have to or we would never leave our home.  I wondered how Quinn would do this past weekend (we went to my parent’s for Easter) since she is now at a stage where she is obviously very aware of her surroundings.  Since we hired a Nanny, she doesn’t sleep anywhere but in her own crib, in her own room.

It wasn’t so great.  She cried bloody murder every time she we put her down for a nap or at bed time.  Every night she woke, only to come to bed with us.  She was up early (6:30 a.m.) and on our last night there she woke around 9:30 p.m. and did not go back to sleep until after 1:00 a.m.

I was exhausted!  I sent Craig to sleep with Piper and Davilyn and I tried to sing, rock, soothe Quinn to sleep.  Just when I thought she was sleeping… her breathing would even out and she would snore.  Her temperature also rises and she sweats like crazy.  I would open my eyes to look at her, only to find her staring at me.

We got home yesterday afternoon and Quinn was ready for bed by 6:00 p.m.  All our girls went to bed early and slept like logs until this morning.  Not a peep from any of them.  No midnight visits with Quinn.

Such little creatures of habit.  Give them their own room and their own beds and they settle in for the night.  I am having second thoughts about our week long vacation this summer…..

oh my goodness, I guess I should be happy..our boys will sleep wherever…they nap at daycare, at grandmas , at grandmas other house….etc. I won’t say they aren’t “restless” sometimes, but they do eventually settle and are good for the night.

I think your vacation will be just fine. you’ll work it out. 🙂
