I write for….

Who do I write this blog for?

Well to some degree, I write for you.  Yes you.  The one reading this.  I am aware that there are people out there (aside from my Mom) who actually read my blog.

I mainly write for myself.  I enjoy it and this has really become my legacy to my girls.  When I forget to update their baby books, I can be sure that I have mentioned their milestone here.  I might not be able to nail it down to the precise minute or even day, but I can get the month and that helps me create their timeline.

I have grown to love my blog.  It’s mine and it doesn’t matter what I choose to write about because at the end of the day, I am truly doing this for me.

Just over a year ago, when I moved to my own domain, I really felt like this was mine!  I pay for it and it belongs to me.  I jumped into reviews and giveaways and quickly realized that reviews really were not my style.  I do not mind doing them, but I much rather be involved with giving away things to all of you.  I would much rather do a review that includes a giveaway.

It’s time-consuming.  It takes so much time to track down sponsors.  Weed through emails to find a giveaway that I think that my readers will benefit from.  Not to mention, I had some difficulties with my winners actually receiving their gift.  So, I keep my eye open for a good giveaway and I hope to bring that back again.

Right now, though, my time is precious.  I work away from home 9 hours a day at least 4 days a week.  Our family spends up to 6 hours a week away from the house at various activities for the girls.  That doesn’t include the travel time to get there.  If I added in driving time, I would be adding at least another 6 hours to that.  We spend 12 hours of our day sleeping (well, me only if I am lucky), add to that a household to run, laundry, meals…. time is precious.  As many of you busy families know.

So, mostly, I blog for me.  Who do you blog for?

I completely agree with your post. I like to write for me as well. That’s why I started my blogs. I went into doing reviews/giveaways as well. I haven’t had any problems with winners getting their prizes but I have experienced not getting something I have won. I’ve contacted the host of the blog many times who contacted the Sponsor… Needless to say three months later and still no prize. I just think that no only does this make the company look bad but it also reflects on the blog that put on the giveaway. Therefore, I seem to be leaning more to reviewing books and giving them away. The winners get their prizes that same day most of the time.

Great post! I write for me as well. I hope that when I write, some one some where will get something from it, but.. I write for me. 🙂 I can also relate to working and trying to run a blog. It is time consuming and I get overwhelmed too easy and stop blogging. 🙁 Not what I want to do, but it is one way I deal with things.

Stopping by from The Blog Dare. Nice to meet you. 🙂
