Will it still be Valentime’s day when Daddy gets home?
Those were the first two questions that my tired Davi Doodle asked me this morning, rubbing her weary eyes.
We all hate it when The Time Traveler is away. The house is a little more still, a little more quiet. Even though we gave the girls their chocolate treats on Sunday when daddy was still here, it feels like we didn’t really celebrate Valentine’s day this year.
We did. We just celebrated early.
Yesterday, after I got home from work, I declared that supper was Diva’s choice. I was pretty sue I knew what they would want. Davi would pick pasta or chicken noodle soup and Piper would pick a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Quinn would have what everyone is having. I was close. Davi wanted Kraft Dinner and Piper a bologna sandwich. Quinn really did want what everyone was having.
It wasn’t as fantastic as some of the dinners that all of you were having but my girls loved picking out whatever they wanted. We ended supper with strawberries for dessert and then the girls picked a chocolate from their Valentine’s treats.
It wasn’t romantic or over the top. It wasn’t elaborate or mushy. But the girls and I sat around the table eating what we wanted and reading through their Valentine’s cards. Enjoying each other and enjoying their excitement over their cards and treats.
That was my Valentine’s Day and the only thing that would have made it better is if the Time Traveler was home.
