October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.  October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.

I Am The Face

1 in 4 women will experience the loss of a baby at some point in their lives.

1 in 4.

25%

I am the face of Miscarriage.

If you think that having three children makes that any easier to say or to live with.  It doesn’t.  I have known two babies to live inside me.  Two that I didn’t get to meet and will never hold during my lifetime.

My sister is the face of a Still birth.  Her story is not mine to tell.  My part of her story is that I never held my nephew.  I saw him for the first and the last time laying in a coffin so small.  So delicate.  My part of her story is grieving the boy that I never got to hold.

My mother is the face of Infant loss.  A brother, Craig, that I still think about today.  We never met.  His life, his death, was before my time but is so much a part of me.  I grew up wondering what a big brother would have been like.  How that would have changed our family dynamic.  How that would have changed me.

Today is Pregnancy and Infant loss Awareness Day.  To honour and to remember.
