Dear Davilyn~
I can already tell that you are going to test me and test me and test me. This week you came home happily asking if you could go to Mexico with your new best friend and her family. When I politely said no and explained why, you had a good cry about it. Davilyn, you are five. I am pretty sure that five-year olds do not vacationing with their new best friends, alone, without parents. You think I am crazy and mean.
You also came home once with your fingernails painted after having a “spa” bus ride with your new best friend. The two of you certainly seem to have quite a bit in common because a few days after that you came home and your toenails were done too. I can see where this is going in a few years. I’ll be buying makeup and perfume for you (and not the cheap dress up make up either).
We have had a rough week at home. It started with Piper getting sick, then Quinn and Daddy joined and now Mama. I am praying that you do not get this Davilyn. It’s the worst cough we have had and I am always scared when you get a cough. We have been very fortunate the last few winters as you haven’t had a bad cough. The year you had croup multiple times and we made multiple trips to Children’s Emergency was a rough go. I hope to avoid that if we can.
You and I are off to Winnipeg in a week for your allergy testing. I hope it turns out to be nothing, but because you had a reaction to an antibiotic last spring, we have to be sure. We’ll get to spend the day together and go to your favourite restaurant. I’m looking forward to it.
