Back to School

Tomorrow.

Where did this summer go?

My big girl is starting grade three.  Grade Three.  I still remember her first day of preschool.  Her start at Kindergarten.

How is that she is in grade three.

But she is.

My middle daughter is starting grade one.  Grade One.  Seriously!  She is still in preschool.  No?  It can’t be true.

How is that she is in grade one.

But she is.

My littlest doesn’t start until Monday.  Junior Kindergarten, folks.  Riding the big yellow bus on her own.  I know.  I know.  I am sure I was just potty training that one.  Right?

How is that she is going to primary school.

But she is.

They are.  My family is growing up.  And growing big.  How did this happen so fast?

I’m sitting thinking how wonderful this new chapter is for our family.  And it is.  It really is.

But as I enjoy it all, a tear trickles down my face.

Because for the last time I will watch a child start her first ever day of school.

For the last time I have a child not in school.  At least until Monday when she officially starts.

I’m teary.  Nostalgia hits me in the heart every time.

Because it doesn’t seem all that long ago that these three girls were two years old.
