Dear Davilyn ~

You have about a month of school under your belt.  We went to your open house, saw your classroom and all of your wonderful work.  You were so proud to show us everything that you do each day.  I wish we had more time to pour over your colouring and your other work.

You really did retire your hockey skates last year.  Part of me still held out hope that we would see you lace them up again.  That is really not going to happen even though I thought that once you saw your sisters out there you would want to be too.  Nope.  You are not tempted in the least.

You are, however, loving Sparks.  You are so excited to join the ranks of all the other cookie sellers and put your feet to the pavement.  I am just hoping you find your thing.

You love to read.  You asked if you could take books to school to read at recess.  When I told you that recess was for playing, you said “Playing is not my thing… reading is.”  I think you like both those things but I do see your love for reading and I hope you always have that.

You are my artsy girl, no question.  You love to colour and draw.  Read and write.  You sing and twirl.

You hate mornings though.  You always have.  Even as a baby you hated them.  I still remember hearing you in your crib in the morning and if I went into your room too soon, you would yell “NO”, roll over and ignore me.  You still do that.  So we go in your room and tell you have 10 or 15 minutes until breakfast will be on the table and you will have to get up.  It helps us a little bit.  It’s not the perfect solution for a girl that just doesn’t like mornings.

It’s okay, Davi, I don’t care for early mornings either.

Mama loves you Doodle Bug,

Love Mama.
