Month 66 – Letter to Quinn

Dear Quinn ~

Senior Kindergarten this year.  I remember last year, wondering how you would manage without me running behind you picking up after you.  The first few months many things were forgotten at school.  Shoes.  Jacket.  Sweater.

With each day that you were in school was another day of independence for you.  I can’t remember when it happened, but suddenly, you were taking care of business without my help.  Things were coming home in your bag and you weren’t forgetting things anymore.  Just like that.

This year you were ready to get on that bus at the end of our driveway and start school.  You picked out your back to school outfit weeks in advance.  Ready.  My sweet Quinner is growing up.  Becoming more independent.

Like when you announce, “I’m going outside to ride my bike.”

I’m left wondering when exactly did that happen?  That moment when you are confident enough and independent enough to go outside on your own.  To entertain yourself.

I don’t know the exact moment and I am a little sad about that.  Those moments get missed in the chaos of a busy family of five.  But your firsts, I remember.

Like this here… my beautiful little girl on her first day of Senior Kindergarten.

Mama loves you Quinner,

Love Mama.

Quinn 1st day of school
