They had one at the local high school today and at one of the elementary schools nearby. A threat was in the area.
Being very close to the anniversary of the Connecticut Elementary school shooting, it crossed my mind that perhaps we are a bit foolish to believe that our children are safe when they head off to school each day.
How we think nothing of sending our kids to school each morning… assuming that we will see their beautiful faces at the end of each day.
There was also a bomb threat in Los Angeles school today. Was determined to be a hoax… but parents are scared. We see this on the news and it feels like it’s daily.
I’m not sure I feel secure in sending my girls off into this world…. I’m just more certain that I can’t live every day paralyzed in fear. But I’m not sure there is any other way to live in this society. I don’t know how to teach them to live in this world that we have created for them.
The almighty gun is valued more than life in the United States. The right to bear arms is a joke and the innocent lives lost are the punchline.
