Dear Davilyn ~
Keep digging!
Each year that you play hockey, I don’t know how long we have. As we near the end, you start declaring that hockey isn’t your thing and that you don’t really like it. But I see this Hockey Doodle that goes out there and once her skates hit the ice, she goes. I see you digging at the goalie hoping to tip the puck into the net beyond the goalies pads, seconds before the whistle blows.
I see how much you beam when you have worked hard. Had a good game. So I never understand when you start to get bored with it and saying the skates will be retired next year. And, honestly, I can’t imagine it. You not playing. No Hockey Doodle in this house. I can’t see it.
So we will wait and see what the rest of the season will bring and whether or not your skates will hang for good come the spring.
I hope not because I love watching you play.
Mama loves you, Davilyn.
Love Mama.
