Don’t rush to growing up, I miss you already.
Stop for just a moment and let me look at you before you go rushing out the door to play, I miss you already.
Bang on the bathroom door calling Mama just one more time, I miss you already.
You and I had a heart to heart about why we don’t let you have playdates and sleepovers all the time. I tried to explain to you that we are such a busy family that when we aren’t so busy, I just want the five of us to be together. Even if it means all we do is lay around in our jammies on the couch all day. I tried to explain to you that one day you won’t be around asking me to play with you, snuggle with you or let you bake because you will have your life, your own schedule and you will be in charge of your own playdates.
As hard as that is for me to imagine, it was harder for you to imagine the freedom.
But don’t rush to growing up, I miss you already.
