Here is the story of the Joy Joy Joy Joy down in our hearts! We are officially telling everyone we know……

JULY 25, 2005 We did a pregnancy test and it was positive. Before we tested, we went to our second Heartland Fertility Clinic appointment and went over our options with the doctor. I am ovulating on my own (last two cycles) and he discussed waiting six months to see if we get pregnant on our own, doing HS/IUI or going straight to IVF. We would want to do the IVF, it costs about $10,000. Sigh. Feeling good about the appointment and the outlook for us (All my blood work was normal) we left the clinic in higher spirits than our last appointment. As we were leaving, I asked Craig if we could buy some pregnancy tests (half expecting him to say “lets wait til we get home” which was a two hour drive away), he agreed. We went to Costco and bought them (as we were checking out the cashier asked me “so, do you want to be?” I said “yes” crossed my fingers and said “here’s hoping”. We went to the nearest Tim Horton’s, I went in and peed on the stick. Put it in my purse and went out to the car. Craig and I looked at it together…. and holy shit! It was positive. We both just kept saying, “it looks pretty positive to me”. I am going to the Doctor on Thursday morning to do a urinalysis….. thinking pregnant thoughts.

Oh please, dear Lord, let this finally be it for us. We have tried so hard for so long and would love the chance to raise this baby together.

JULY 26, 2005 – I did another test this morning and it was positive again. I went home at lunch and did another one and it was positive. We are cautiously optimistic at this point. We had a chemical pregnancy in January 2005 and are scared that it will happen again. We have agreed on names (we aren’t sharing just yet). We have not told our family and we won’t until we can at least get a urine test at the clinic. I went today and it registered negative. Please, not again, I beg. The nurse thinks, it is too early and my urine isn’t concentrated enough. I am going on the 28th with FMU (first morning urine). Please Lord, let this be.

July 27, 2005. I cannot stop peeing on sticks. It is an addiction, really. I am going to start a support group. “Hello, my name is Nicole, and I am a POASaholic.” The last two are faint. Very faint but a line is a line is a line. My family doctor just called me at work to ask me if I received my urine test results. So I told her that I had and she said, “No, I am looking at them right here and they are positive. Come in and pick up a requisition for bloodwork and let’s see what your HCG levels are.” It is now 11:24 a.m. and I think I will take an early lunch to go and do that. Oh my, this has to be it. I should have the results by Friday.

JULY28, 2005 THE BETA IS BACK!!! 14DPO it was 108.7! Woo Hoo. WE ARE PREGNANT! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was reading message boards and reading advise from mothers who have recently had their babies and one that I am going to follow is this, “Enjoy your pregnancy starting now! Don’t wait for “safe time” or spend the first three months worrying. This is your baby, now.” We are going to tell our families this weekend and I cannot wait! Dear Lord, thank you.

We called and told our parents and siblings tonight. Actually my sister already knew. I MSN’d her and told her. I cannot keep a secret.

Craig’s parents were pleasently surprised and excited for us. He started off by saying to them, “Hey, I remember what I was going to ask you. Do you still remember how to change a diaper?”

I told my mother by saying, “Craig wanted me to call and ask you a question.” She said “Oh my god, are you serious!” She was very excited and wanted to get in a van with a loud speaker and make her rounds through town. We asked to hold off on that for a while. She then said, “Oh, I can’t wait. That is so long to wait.”

My dad was equally as excited and kept saying that “I am so happy for you two.” I told him by asking him if he would like to learn how to change diapers with Craig. He said (very quietly), “You’re pregnant.”

Telling our families was the next best feeling in the world, aside from finding out we are going to have a baby!

JULY 29, 2005
This is a picture of me taken while we were camping, the week before we found out. This is going to be the before picture. I wonder if I will be brave enough to sport a bikini next summer? I do not care because I will be holding a baby in my arms! Now that is sexy enough for me! Ha ha.

I feel so blessed and so very very thankful. Thank you for your support and your well wishes. Dear Lord, thank you for this miracle. Thank you.

So I will be updating my blog with new blinkies and all that jazz! We know it is still early but this baby has been growing in our hearts for a long long time and we want to share this ALL OF this journey with all of family and friends… including our stranger friends.
