Homecoming

Today was our homecoming day. Piper was discharged from the NICU this morning. We were so effing excited!

“You mean we actually get to keep her?”

LOL.

She is home now for us to enjoy, love and spoil. Gramma Sharon is mad about her.

We made the decision to bottle feed and she started gaining weight immediately. It was one of the hardest decisions that we have had to make. The NICU nurses were fabulous about it and said, “This is supposed to be a joyous time for you. Not a stressful one.”

I wish that things had worked out for the breastfeeding but it just wasn’t in the cards for us. That’s okay. We are okay. We will continue to be okay.

Our baby girl is home and that is all that matters.

Look at how stinkin’ cute she is. In her little going home outfit. It was a bit big for Piper but it looks cute all the same. The hat is way too big. So far, her big day at home has consisted of eating, pooping, being snuggled and lots of sleeping.

She has some long days ahead of her, doesn’t she?

Look at the proud Papa, taking his baby girl home from the hospital. Driving around with some very precious cargo.

He was so excited. He walked into the NICU and realized that I was going through the paper work for Piper’s discharge. We have been riding around with her car seat in our car since we left for the hospital after my water broke. We were certainly ready for that wee babe to come home.

This is us arriving in our driveway with our newest family member, Piper Leigh Miller.

Welcome Home Piper!!! We are so excited to finally have you here with us.

Love and kisses.

I just found your blog too (maybe through Soralis?). I’m another Canadian IVF’er. I just wanted to say congrats on your beautiful baby! The Tim’s coffee is a perfect add on – it’s like our version of MaryKate with her Starbucks.

she’s absolutely adorable!! She couldn’t have anymore love for any other parents!! Looking forward to seeing her grow through pictures.

Don’t feel to bad about the nursing, she’ll be a healthy girl. My daughter tried both times to nurse but she has inverted nipples and it was too much of a struggle..even with trying to pump it to bottles. The nurses told her the same thing…it’s to be a happy and joyous time not a stressfull one. Just enjoy the feeding time and now through bottle feeding Dad can share in the joy as well.

Congratulaions again and welcome home to all.
