The New Family Drives West Part II

After our short stay in Edmonton, we made our way to Calgary and then High River for a wedding. For all the driving that Piper had been doing, I must admit that she did a great job!

She certainly let us know when she had enough driving for the day! Complete meltdowns if we don’t stop when she first starts giving us the cues. Sigh, lesson learned.

While in Calgary, we met up with some long lost cousins… seriously. It had been almost 16 years since we had seen them. Now we are having children of our own so it was nice to meet the little ones that are entering our lives.

It is such a shame that distance often separates families to such a degree that there are no relationships anymore.

The visit in Calgary was wonderful, though. We stayed with one of my aunts and just visited. Then Craig, Piper and I made our way south to High River to meet up with the bridal couple. My parents stayed in Calgary and actually babysat for us the night of the wedding! How wonderful that all worked out. Not only did we get to vay cay with my parents but they were able to spend that extra time with Piper.

This was Piper’s first time meeting Aubrey & Lesley. We were invited to the Bride’s parents home the night before the wedding. It was our chance to bring Piper and catch up with them. Something that is difficult for the bridal couple to do on the day of the wedding, so this was especially nice to be able to do.

Piper stayed the night with us in High River but then made her way back to Calgary to spend the night with Gramma and Grampa. Craig and I attended the wedding sans Piper.

The wedding was great and we were so glad that we took the opportunity to attend. This is a group photo of all us “Brandonites” although Aubrey & Lesley have since relocated to Ontario.

Our trip west was a huge success but as always we were happy to get home.
