Today the entire family was hanging out downstairs. We just had our basement finished in August 2008 and it’s done up pretty good. All of the girls toys are down there (or a vast majority of them) and our home theatre room is there too. Along with two spare bedrooms, a gorgeous bathroom and my utility room.
In the middle of moving the toys to vacumn, I came across a pretty big piece of the carpet that was wet. There was no visible sign of water entry and despite the flooding in our general area, we are unaffected…
Upon further inspection, Craig found that the drain pipe from the kitchen sink (directly above) has a good size leak. Unfreakingbelievable… and thank goodness it isn’t much much worse. So Craig ripped apart the drywall (that is less than a year old) and threw it away, along with the wet insulation. Someone will be by tomorrow to fix it and hopefully the drywall will be fixed sooner rather than later. The carpet will be fine once it dries out.

YUCK!!!! I hate water in the basement! It’s never good news! Glad it’s only a small area though!
