Of our Chicago trip.

I’ll be honest and tell you that we did not do much of the tourist”y” things or sightseeing. Craig worked all week while Quinn and I shopped. A lot. We stayed south of Chicago in Tinley Park (since it was close to where Craig was working) and I spent most of my days shopping. I love Target and Kohl’s and we don’t have those two gems up here in Canada. I also took a day and drove an hour south to Aurora for the Premium Outlets. I love them! The closest ones to us are about 8 hours drive in Albertville, Minnesota.

I accomplished what I set out to and that was to drain Craig’s wallet. Kidding of course. I managed to score some great deals and some cute clothes for the girls. Since Davilyn and Quinn have so many hand me downs, I primarily shop for Piper. She is growing like a weed! I bought her all size 6 or 6x, thinking that I might have to hem some of the pants… I was wrong. She is a tall weed.

Anyway, here are some highlights.

This was Quinn’s first flight and she was wonderful. She visited and smiled. Had a bite to eat and then slept the majority of the flight (she was just as good coming home too).

One of our first evenings in Illinois, we drove into Chicago for a Pizza. We ate at Pizzeria Uno (which is highly recommended and we agree).

I mean, look at this Pie! It was so good.

This is Quinn and I waiting for our pizza to arrive. She was such a great baby to travel with. She was jolly and happy and just went with the flow.

I had to check out The Magnificent Mile. Mostly just to say I did… but we did pick up a few things while here, so I did officially shop the Mile too.

I refrained from going inside Jimmy Choo. I really wanted too and I even wanted to buy a pair…. but where would this Prairie Girl wear a pair of Jimmy Choo’s! My biggest fear is that Davilyn will become aware of Jimmy Choo’s someday and start asking us to shop there for her. She is my Shoe Diva, afterall.

We also stopped by More (cupcakes by Gale Gand). We watch quite a bit of The Food Network here in our house and this was on our list of must do! The cupcakes were fabulous and huge! We should have tried a variety of the mini cupcakes but we opted for a few big ones. Do try them if you get the chance.

We didn’t actually spend much time on Navy Pier itself so I don’t have many more photos of the area. If the kids were with us, we would have ventured around here a bit more.

We had supper at Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant in Tinley Park. It was wonderful! They make all of their own wines (and I have already special ordered from Craig the next time he travels to Illinois for work). They have a Merlot that has a hint of chocolate and I loved it. I mean, that is the perfect combination… wine and chocolate. The food, itself, was great too and I can’t wait to go back.

Just a shot of Quinn because, well, she is super cute! She was so well behaved at the restaurant.

We spent a few hours at the Shedd Aquarium as well. I know my big girls would love this, so I hope we all get to go back together someday.

We topped it off by having lunch, Chicago Style. I don’t overly enjoy hotdogs (but they are necessity when camping, right?) but these ones are pretty darn good!

Didn't you learn from me what a prairie girl does with Jimmy Choos?
