The spirit of Christmas, I mean.
Is it something that you try to live all the year through or is it something that just happens around the holidays? Sometimes it is really hard to live it all the year through even though we try. We are human after all. We make mistakes. We struggle with our own vices but I try to live with a big heart all year. I make mistakes. I struggle with my own desires and wants but I think that if my children can consider others before themselves, I can too.
This time of year though, especially makes me thankful for all that I have. For all that I am able to provide for my family. That my children will wake up on Christmas morning and find new toys under the tree just for them. That I am able to donate and give a little bit of what we have to those that do not have much or those that may have nothing at all.
This time of year does make me want to be a better person and to give to those less fortunate than we are. Each year we go through our own belongings. Toys and clothing and we donate it. The girls even get excited about putting items in the pile that will arrive at a new home for a new little girl to love and play with.
So we are starting to do that. Go through our belongings and those that are still in good condition will find new homes this winter. Will you join me?
