Dear Piper ~

The September long weekend has come and gone… you started grade one yesterday!  Grade one.  Gone all day to learn and have fun with your friends.  I was very emotional after dropping you off.  I worry so much about you as you set out blazing the trails for your sisters.  You are in a new mix of students this year.  Some from your class last but many are not.  I hope you find that special friend.  We all need one of those.

We have had a great summer, haven’t we.  I am really kinda sad to see it end.  It was a great idea to get a seasonal campsite.  We have used it and enjoyed it so much.  We have met some wonderful friends and you have really done so well with swimming.

You have grown so much this summer.  Two weeks at full day camp and one week at half day camp.  All on your own.  Away from your sisters and us.  I have really enjoyed watching you have these experiences.  They are new experiences for me too.  It was a bittersweet summer because I really saw some independence in you.  You almost tackled your first sleepover… and I know that your first sleep over is not so far off in the distance.  Although I find it hard to believe that you will spend nights away from us with your friends.

I hope your first few days and weeks at school are wonderful and I hope your excitement carries you through the entire year.  Soon the weather will be cold.  We will return to the rink and Christmas will be upon us.

I look forward to watching you play Ringette this winter and skate.  You are so wonderfully skilled and naturally athletic and when I see you out there, I cannot believe that you are mine.  I am so proud of you and I love you to the moon and back… and again.

Mama loves you Magoo.

Love Mama.
