Dear Davilyn ~

I’m so proud of you.

Sometimes, I am chatting with you and you say things… or you do something and the pride I have for you rises up and wants to burst right out.  Last night as we were driving to your first official hockey practise of the season, I asked you “Davilyn what is your goal for this season?”

Your response:

“I am going to be the best sportsman and work hard.  Even if we don’t win, I will still have fun and work hard.”

And I was speechless.  Not because I had nothing to say but because I was so proud of you that I thought it burst right from my chest.

Moments like that happen and I can’t believe that I am the mother to such an amazing little girl.  But I am.

You are right Davilyn.  It’s not always about winning.  It’s about the hard work we put in, the attitudes we have and the friendships that we make on that ice.  That is what really matters and those feelings and memories are what will stay with you throughout your life.  This years Novice hockey squad might seem like small peanuts to some, but I guarantee that when you are my age these memories will still be with you.

And even though winning is nice, I want you to know that I just love to watch you play.

So I can’t wait to see you look up to me in the stands in this year so we can jump up and down and celebrate your accomplishments on the ice.

Mama loves you, Davilyn.

Love Mama
