2015 Year in Review

We spent 2015 with friends and a board game.  It was a fun way to ring in the New Year.

We spent 2015 trying to settle in at our 30 Acre Wood.  We still have much we want to do but we decided to take the time to have fun.  We used our snow machines exploring our property.  Our pool went up and we enjoyed evenings and weekends on our deck.  We sat in the gazebo with friends. We had bonfires. It was a nice change of pace for us to be relaxing in our own back yard all summer.  We traded in our fishing boat and bought a pontoon boat.

We spent time together and we made memories.

Piper turned 9 and she celebrated with friends.  I watched in disbelief that she has grown up so fast.  But she is. A girl to be proud of.

We traveled to Florida and celebrated Quinn’s 5th birthday among Princes and Princesses.  It was pretty awesome and I wish we could make that trip for each of their birthdays.  We waited two hours for her to meet Anna and Elsa. It was worth every second.

Davilyn turned 7 in June and we all wondered “How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn.  How did it get so late so soon?” Dr. Seuss

The days seem long but the years are short.

We had a great year of hockey.  I absolutely loved having two of my girls on the same team and what a year they had.  Undefeated in tournament play and bringing home 4 tournament championships.  It was amazing to be part of it all.

Craig and I went to Vegas for a few days alone.  I love that we were able to do that.  We always enjoy our time together and it’s getting harder and harder to find that time.  It’s supposed to get easier as the girls get older… but we are clearly in a very busy stage of our family life.

We didn’t travel far this summer.  Thunder Bay to spend a week with Katie Weatherston at her camp.  A week that Davilyn found hard but walked away with a new perspective on hockey and a new enjoyment for the game.  We travelled to Winnipeg to see friends and visit old stomping grounds and we wound up our summer camping near Duluth.  All those little adventures made for a pretty great summer.

August ended and summer faded into another school year. Quinn is in her last year of the early learning program, SK. The little helper among her class. Our spirited, witty and funny Quinn. Davilyn spent her summer reading and took grade two by storm. She is reading well beyond her grade and her comprehension is too. Our studious, dramatic middle daughter. Piper started grade four at a middle school and if she was at all nervous about it, she didn’t let on. Our leader, our first born.

Fall quickly arrived and with it so did a hectic hockey schedule. We live at the local arenas 6 days out of 7 and sometimes I wish for less but in my heart I know that I wouldn’t change a thing. I love watching the girls chase after the puck. Find the back of the net. I’ve even discovered that I enjoy watching them put on the pads and stand in the crease.

2015 brought with it new friendships for our family. Wonderful experiences and memories. There isn’t too much from 2015 that I am happy to see go. I am, however, looking forward to 2016.

All the best as you enter the new year. To family, friends, love, laughter and hockey. Game on 2016!
