Dear Davilyn ~

Happy birthday to my 34 weeker!  Eight years that have gone by so fast.  This past year has been remarkable for you.  You were baptized with your sisters in October and then in April, you and Piper celebrated your first communion.

It was a special time for you and for us all.  You were very excited to be celebrating these sacraments.

School is almost done for another year… *sigh* another year gone.  It’s hard to imagine ten years down the road when you will be off on adventures of your own.  Ten years sounds like such a long time, enough time to have all the adventures we want together and make so many memories.  It’s not though, Davilyn.  No one realizes that more than a mother.  Eight years sounds like such a long time too and for you, it might seem so long ago, but it wasn’t.  Not for me.  I remember your birth day like it just happened.  How excited Piper was to be a big sister.  How happy we were to be bringing our Doodle Bug home.  The years have gone fast… too fast because today you are eight.  Eight.  I keep repeating that because I can’t believe that my little 34 weeker is now eight.

You are turning into such a little lady.  A beautiful girl with a big heart and friends of all ages.  Some of your favourite people are the early learning students that you sit with on the bus…. even though you are finishing grade two.  You are not too big… or too cool… or too old to enjoy the younger students at your school

You finally got a garden in this year.  Two small raised garden beds.  Papa made one and Papa and Daddy made one together.  You have been asking to do this for a few years now.  It will be great when we can enjoy some of the vegetables that are grown.

These are the things that make your heart happy when you are eight.  Colouring, reading, gardening, flowers.

And you are one of the things that makes my heart happy.  I hope you have the best of all days, the day you turn eight.

Mama loves you Doodle.

Love Mama.

“Whatever you decide to do…. make sure it makes you happy.
