Dear Davilyn ~
You started back to school on Tuesday. Grade 3. In my mind, it was only yesterday that you were starting Kindergarten. The first day back to school is always so exciting. Who will your teacher be. Who will be in your class. New shoes and new dresses.
But, for me, in the middle of all that excitement is your Mom. Looking at you thinking how grown up you are, how beautiful you are, how smart and funny you are and seeing in her mind stills of that toddler singing to Rapunzel soundtrack and wearing dress up shoes with princess dresses.
And I can’t remember the last time you did that. Put on dress up shoes and a princess dress and ran around the house.
But you did and as you start another school year that will be full of learning and adventures and friends old and new, I’m reminded that in fact the days are long but the years are short.
