Dear Piper ~

All you want to do is play hockey and I am happy for that to happen for you.

I hope we get our outdoor rink in soon.  The weather is on our side now and we have some snow.  We just need to get the water flowing and frozen.  I can’t wait to skate out there with you like we did when you five.  Remember that winter?  We had so much fun and you couldn’t believe that your Mom could skate and shoot a puck.  So much has changed since then though.  You can out skate and out shoot me now.

Now you are teaching me.

You are one of the best kids I know and not just because you are mine.  I’ve never heard you say a mean thing about anyone and I’ve never been told that you are mean to kids at school.  Don’t forget those qualities as you grow older and the realities of this world harden you a bit.  Always remember that five year old… the ten year old that just wants to have fun and play hockey.  Don’t ever forget her.  You will need her time and time again throughout your life.

I love you more than words can say.  You will always be my Magoo.

Love Mama.
